Jake Magee was the Uxbridge Labour candidate at the 1983 General election
Magee won the selection as labour candidate on the third ballot beating Hillingdon Council Labour Group leader David Heppenstall and Uxbridge (Colham) Labour Councillor and Post office engineer Brian Hudson.
The other two candidates on sthe short list was jennie Fletcher and Slough Labour Councillor Timothy Hurley
Magee aged 34 in 1982 stood unsuccessfully at the GLC election in May 1981 for Uxbridge (Hillingdon)

J. Stubbs (Lib) 3,675 11.8%
Labour plus 14.8% on a 50% turnout
Magee born in the North of Ireland was a factory worker and lived in Uxbridge since 1968 a member of the Transport & General Workers Union (TGWU).
His election address was printed by Cambridge Heath Press run by Miltant Tendency and caused some consternation at labour party head office
