AEC Southall
The AEC (Associated Equipment Company Limited) factory at Southall was built in 1926 in Windmill Lane, Southalland produced a wide varity of lorries, tankers and buses, the most famous being the London classic Routemaster bus (in conjunction with AEC factory at Chiswick and Park Royal).
AEC became part of British Leyland in 1962 and the last routemaster built in 1968.
AEC was a well organised trade unionised factory, members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU) a major dispute in 1971
The Southall AEC factory closed on 25th May 1970.
